Lidoderm is like many other drugs you may use while pregnant. It is not expected to harm a fetus, but it is always best to consult your doctor so he/she can review any precautions that need to be taken.

Lidoderm can be used while pregnant as it is not expected to harm a fetus. However, the FDA places Lidoderm under category B which means that they have not specifically studied the effects the medication has on an unborn fetus or breastfeeding mothers while results on animals have not shown significant side effects.

I wouldn't advise using Lidoderm during pregnancy because it contains lidocaine. Lidocaine can be harmful to unborn babies and infants because Lidoderm is designed to be absorbed into the skin. If too much is applied, it can seep into the bloodstream and sometimes, it gets is transferred through breastmilk.

The FDA places Lidoderm under the pregnancy category B-which means that they have not specifically studied the effects the medication has on an unborn fetus or breastfeeding mothers. Results in animals have not shown significant side effects; however, it should ONLY be used with a doctor's consent.

Lidoderm users who become pregnant should only continue use under the advise of their doctor. To date, no testing has been conducted to review any effects on fetuses.
