Levaquin is an antibiotic used for treating infections in the lung and urinary tract. It is not good for a dental abcess. Antibiotics that are good for treating a dental abscess include: Metronidazole, Clindamycin, Amoxicillin, Moxifloxacin, and Cefoxitin. Levaquin is a very strong antibiotic. In some cases, depending on your dentist, he or she could recommend levaquin as a remedy. Usually it will take care of swelling over night, but you want to be careful as it is very powerful and can cause other issues in the mouth unknowingly.

Only your dentist can tell you what you can take for an abcessed tooth. Make an appointment with the dentist.
