pregnancy

Question by  nnemeku (1)

Is it possible for pregnancy not to be detected in a test after 5 months, even when signs are clear?

I had some bleeding around 2nd month, but my stomach has continued to increase in size normally and all other signs are clear even to the doctor. A scan showed a bulky mass, but the doctor says it is not clear.

Unfortunately, it is not a good sign if after 5 months things still aren't clear. It is, yes, possible for things to be normal. If you are significantly overweight, it's normal. Best see another doctor if you are worried for another opinion.

For my first son I never did have a positive pregnancy test. It was never figured out why not because he is a healthy 25 years old now!

It has been known to happen. Every womens body is different. The tests that you buy over the counter are not fool proof. You need to make a appointment with you family doctor as soon as possible.

It is possible but highly unusual. The doctor should do further testing to make sure you are expecting, and that the bulky mass is not some kind of tumor that is preventing your body from behaving normally. By 5 months, you should clearly see the child on ultra sound.
