Is it okay to feed a 2 and a half month old baby formula with rice cereal?

I say no and my mother in law says it is okay.

Generally not, but a lot depends on the baby. A large (not fat) infant that is developing more quickly than normal might be okay with this. In most cases, no.

No, they cannot have rice cereal until they are at least 5 months old. It is still too early for their stomachs to digest the rice cereal, which is why babies stick to a pure liquid diet for such a long time. They have to build up the ability to handle foods.

No, it is probably not best to do that unless directed to do so by your child's pediatrician. Most nutrition guidelines say that babies should be fed exclusively breast milk or formula until four months, when rice cereal can be introduced. Generally, pediatricians abide by that standard unless your child has severe problems with reflux or spitting up.

No!!!!! Solids should not be introduced until between the ages of 4 and 6 months old. First you start off by introducing cereal. Water it down with formula and give it on a spoon. It's not good to be put in a bottle. After a while then you start to introduce baby foods one at a time to prevent allergies.

Pediatricians recommend only breastmilk or formula until at least 4 months. I think the old wisdom was give a younger baby a bit of cereal and they'll sleep better. Don't!
