Is it hard to repair a Cherokee transmission?

It is usually harder to repair (rebuild) a transmission than going to a junk yard and finding a transmission and swapping them out. There are also companies that offer rebuilt transmissions on a core exchange program where you give back your transmission for a core exchange refund.

For most automotive-transmissions, there are "wholesale" repair-shops. If you are a skilled-mechanic, you might be able to overhaul it, but they are very-messy. Most mechanics swap transmissions with a re-built/wholesale-unit.

It is very hard to repair a transmission if you do not know what you are doing. There are alot of part inside that if removed and not put back properly it will not function. I recommend you take it to an ASE certified mechanic.

Well it depends on what needs to be repaired. A rebuild can be very difficult if you have never done one before.
