Question by  Jordan (19)

Is it difficult walking following a lumbar fusion?

Answer by  wishfire (119)

It can be difficult to walk, as you will likely be in a fair amount of pain. The nurses should be going over some exercises that you should be doing, and help you with them. No matter the pain; however, activity such as walking is incredibly important for recovery.

Lumbar arthrodesis[fusion] may cause some restriction of mobility but one should not have any difficulty in walking except maybe slight stiffnes while trying to walk fast or run.
