The causes of RLS are not well understood. Amongst many other risk factors like stress, other peripheral nerve disorders, and pregnancy, iron deficiency has been shown to increase the likelihood of RLS. Taking a supplement if you are iron deficient could be good for a number of reasons, but if you aren't, you could be doing more damage than good.

You should really check with your doctor, you should consult one. The doctor would be able to tell you if iron would help or not. You shouldn't take iron with out talking to your doctor first. The doctor would be able to tell you more about what you need to do.
