Chianti is a regional denomination in Tuscany that produces a mid bodied, flavourful red wine. The principle grape variety used is Sangiovese. There are two denominations, DOC and DOGC, the later being the one of higher quality. The pleasant acidity and earthy notes on the palate make this a very popular food pairing wine.
