No! This game is very easy to pick up and quickly learn. At first you will be mashing buttons, but there is not to much to the game so that will soon pass. There is alot happening on the screen but that is half the fun.

A Super Smash Brothers Melee guide is only necessary to unlock hidden things in the game such as items and characters. The controls and gameplay is fairly straightforward and easy to command. A guide might be fun for players playing cooperatively or against one another who seek additional challenges beyond the limits of normal gameplay.

I didnt really find the strategy guide for super smash brothers to be very helpful at all. The game is very basic and doesn't really require a strategy guide to begin with in my opinion. I feel like a strategy guide would be a complete waste of money for a game like this.

If you take the time to see what the game has to offer, you won't need to spend money on a guide.
