1979 is when the Susan B. Anthony dollars were made. There were millions of those made. So the current value is not much more than $1.00.

It depends on a couple of things. No silver dollars were minted in 1979. The Susan B. Anthony dollar, which was minted from 1979 to 1981 and again in 1999. They were minted in a copper-nickel alloy. Most of them are worth only $1, but certain coins were minted in proof. The proof pieces have a small 'S' mint mark.
