Virginia. Eight Presidents. Presidents born there include George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William Harry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor and Woodrow Wilson. Virginia's nickname has at times been, "The Mother of Presidents." The next closest is Ohio, with seven, although they sometimes claim Harrison who, although born in Virginia, moved to Ohio.

Ohio and New York are tied for the most presidents, with both having six. Most of the nation's earliest presidents were born in Virginia, with five of them coming from there. Massachusetts has four, Illinois, three, Tennessee, three, Texas, three, and California, three.
