In structural engineering where do we use calculus in?

I do not understand why I need to take this class.

It is best to understand that every class in the engineering curriculum is essential to success, not only in school but in the field later on. Have faith that the course is include for a reason. Otherwise, those in charge of the program would have eliminated it.

One of the biggest problems that only calculus can figure out is the area under a curve. Calculus also labels out limits. Structural engineers need to use both of those.
