If your home is new, insulated with 6 inch walls, 24 inches of insulation in the attic, triple pane EE glass windows, wrapped in Tyvek, has a positive pressure system with heat recovery, and a foundation insulated to 48 inches below grade, NO!

It would work but your furnace or heat source would have to work overtime in any climate. Even in the deep south 85k is a better number.

70,000 BTU would work, however it will be pushing it's limits in any climate. Rather than push limits, it would better serve you to install at least 85,000 BTU so that your furnace last longer, and your home will be more comfortable.

Yes, this amount of heating should work just fine. If you are to get more it would not hurt to have it.
