If you could only have one, would it be a dishwasher or clothes washing machine?

schlepping your stuff to the laundry is annoying, but you only need to do it once a week; but washing dishes everyday is pretty annoying too!

Absolutely and without a doubt, clothes washing machine! I, too, have done laundry in a bathtub. Wouldn't want to do it again. Not near so difficult to wash dishes by hand. Don't even need a bathtub for them; sink works wonderfully! ;)

I would go with the washing machine - hauling your clothes to a laundry is significantly more annoying than washing dishes by hand. I agree with your point about clothes being a weekly thing, and dishes being a daily thing, but still - clothes washer hands down.

I would take the washing machine over the dishwasher any day because the cost of a laundry mat is ridiculous, and until you try washing your clothes in a bathtub you just can't begin to understand. Yes I had to do that when my washing machine broke down and I pray I never have to again.

Definitely a clothes washing machine. It's easy to wash dishes by hand and really really hard to wash clothes and sheets and towels by hand. (Trust me, I know.) Going to the laundromat is a good alternative, but it's not always easy to schedule.

I have both a dishwasher and a washing machine. If I had to choose to have only one, I would go with with the washing machine. We have a large family and that is a lot of clothes and towels a week. I don't mink washing the dishes by hand if needed.
