I was caught driving recklessly, is it worth getting a lawyer over this matter?

If you did drive recklessly, and you admit that you drove recklessly, then you shouldn't be really fighting the matter. When you go to court, you can get public representation to tell you the consequences of your actions and accept your punishment. If not, I think you can also choose to decline counsel and just say that you are guilty.

If you were caught straight up you can hire a lawyer and hope to minimize the consequences. However, if you were driving recklessly and the facts of the matter bear that out, the court has specified judgments that apply to your offense. Present yourself to the court, hope you have no priors, and speak to the DA.
