With today's TV, You'll need a HDMI cable and make sure your TV has HDMI connection, the connection piece to the PC, you will need either a DVI or HDMI. Newer video cards have HDMI connector.

If your computer or laptop has HDMI output you can get an HDMI cord and plug one end into the computer and the other into the TV. Change the channel to the corresponding HDMI channel and you should see your screen.

One efficient way to use your TV as a computer monitor is to use an HDMI cable. Connect the computer to the TV directly using the HDMI output on the computer and connect to the appropriate HDMI input located often on either the side or the back of the TV.

The connections are pretty easy actually. If your graphics card supports a direct analog out or if you have a converter you can accept video signals from your computer. Basically, you would want to get video in S-Video/Component/HDMI/DVI for your TV. As for configuring Windows, select "Clone display" mode.

You must match computer output with tv input. CRT TVs don't make good monitors but your best bets are S-video or rca video jacks. If you don't have them you need a converter which can cost around $50. Flat screens are easier to match and electronic stores should have adaptors.

The best thing you can do is get an HDMI cable. You would then run that from you computer to the tv. that should work.

You will need a video card that supports it. Also make sure your tv has the proper connection. An older way of doing it is, using a tv out on your tv to rca in on the computer. Some newer tv's has vga in as well.
