I never use my fireplace, do I still need an inspection for it?

Even if you never have used your fireplace you should still get it inspected. For the very reason you do not know if something is wrong with it or not. What type of fireplace do you havee (gas or Log burning)? It is always better to be safe then sorry.

Yes, I would say you should. Inspections are not only for using, but animals and debris can get in your chimney and plug it off, or at the very least make little airway for any fire you would have in it. Also,weather can damage or wear the flue,stack and chimney itself.

All fireplaces should be inspected periodically, even if not used. This inpection can insure that the structure is safe and it is not an area of your house that may be loosing heat. A propped open flue could be the cause of heat loss in a house.

The fireplace has to be inspected by a professionally qulified person. The firebox in the fireplace may be overheated which may cause fire.

Yes, if there's a local ordinance making it mandatory. Otherwise, no but it remains advisable if there's any chance you'll ever wish to use it.
