Illness symptoms include sneezing, coughing, fluffing up in the corner of the cage, not eating, lethargy, crusty eyes, losing weight, hair loss, reddish urine and diarrhea (an emergency). Guinea pigs mask symptoms until they are very sick and go downhill VERY fast, so go to a qualified exotics vet ASAP.

Generally, they will stop eating and just sit quiet and still, doing nothing. Sometimes, they won't even respond to being touched/nudged. Find a small critter vet if need be.

When a guinea-pig is sick they will often lay down on their side. You will notice they have stopped whistling. A common cause of illness in guinea-pigs is constipation! Believe it or not, a mini enema can be used on them using an eye dropper. Also too many grees can cayse illness=diarrhea.
