How should I word a letter asking for donations?

When asking for donations, explain what the money is needed for and the total amount of money that is needed. Do not come across as though you are begging. Make sure you express your appreciation for time taken to even read the letter, and thank them for their consideration to give you a donation.

Be honest and and direct in how the money will be used. Follow up with an in-person visit. You'll have better results asking in person rather than a letter.
