How should I pace my interval workout?

A good interval workout should start with a relaxed warm-up. Then you should alternate between an extremely challenging pace and a moderate pace. Make sure your moderate pace still keeps your heart pumping. The challenging pace should cause panting, where you would be unable to hold a conversation. End with a brief relaxed cool down.

The basic common sense answer would be evenly. It is most important that you give muscles equal time for recovery. The more intense the training in other words the more down time the muscles need.
