How should I go about removing granite tile?

I tried to do it myself and didn't get enough information and wound up wrecking some of the granite which I had wanted to save. My advice is to call or stop by to talk to someone in a stone fabrication shop. They'll be better equipped to help.

Oh I called a Home Depot and was able to come to a class about how to install and remove granite. That worked out great!  add a comment

Research indicates that it is very difficult to remove granite tile without breaking it unless the tile is already loose. You do have to remove the thinset which requires a hand held grinder and a diamond cup wheel which should be available at most or your local home improvement stores.

A good grinder and carbide blade will do the trick. If ya'll don't care whether or not the tile breaks it won't be too bad but if you want to save it go slowly and gently. Have a sander available for when the tile has been removed.
