You can buy various insects from pet stores. You can overturn things to catch earthworms. They are hungry often. You can tap the 'nest' to gain attention. Poke the live bugs into their open peeping mouths. If insects struggle too much, crush/cut freshly right at the time you feed.

Never offer food or water to an injured animal, it can do more harm than good. Try locating a local wildlife agency or nature rehabilitation center. Keep the birds in a small box in a warm, draft free area until you can get them to the wildlife center. They need more care than you can provide.

The best way to feed just hatched abandoned birds is to purchase a formula from the pet shop especially made for new born birds. Follow the directions and feed according to the breed of bird and directions on the package. Using a dropper or special syringe aids in feeding.

When a mother bird feeds her babies she chews her food then spits it in the babies mouth, so i suggest smashing the food and then feeding it to the baby bird. If that does not work call and ask a vet what would be the best way to feed the baby bird.

Get the birds into a warm environment, preferrably under a warming light. You need to bottle-feed them at first, since they are unable to digest solid foods properly. Try feeding them baby formula.

To feed baby birds, you should start out with pet food that has been soaked in water for awhile and add applesauce and vitamins then give it to them using something small like a coffee stirrer.
