One of the most important considerations for determining how to place furniture in a room is how the room will be used. Does it need to be open due to often being walked through, or can some areas be obscured by furniture? Use a drawing program or pencil and graph paper to sketch out your ideas.

Take measurements of your room and the furniture for that room. Use graph paper to set up a grid based on room measurements, using small shapes based on your furniture measurements you ca arrange and rearrange your furniture until you have a set up you like.

The length of walls can help you decide where to put groups or larger pieces of furniture. You will need to find a place for the TV which is usually the central spot in the room and then you put the couch and chairs around it to see better. Leave open spots at entryways and walk ways.

You want to give the room an inviting feel so make sure the sit-down pieces such as sofas and chairs go around each other in a group type arrangement.

Do you have television in the room or do you use it to read. You want to focus on how you would entertain.

Get 1" gridpaper. Measure room and all furniture. Tape/Mark/cut gridpaper to the room size 1foot=1inch. Scetch furniture onto different gridpaper same scale as room. You can cut them out, turnover glue to back of colored paper, then cutout. Arrange on grid/room till your happy.

Well, the best furniture placement should be based on the dimensions of each wall. Take the length and width accordingly. Place the longest furniture on the longest wall. That will work.
