Removal of the existing material should be done with care not to damage adjoining surfaces. After proper removal and preperation of the area. Apply the insulation around the insert providing a smoke and gas tight seal. Install tile with a mulit-purpose mastic and a standard grout.

You should put tile by the fireplace and make sure you remove the insulation before removing the tile so you do not have to clean up twice.

1st remove all the insulation and tiles. 2nd place the new insulation in (talk with someone at a fireplace store for advice first). 3rd ensure that the insulation is properly installed. 4th Place tiles on. With a job like this you're best using an expert.

Fireplace insulation should be truly fire resistant and tile replacement should be a match to the color of the house.
