How should I deal with a backseat driver?

My husband is a persistent backseat driver. I can't tune him out. How do I cope with it?

Tell him to shut up or get out! Tell him that his comments are causing you to be distracted while driving and you would prefer to get around safely.

You might pull over and offer to let them drive! Or, you can try to ignore them. Eventually, because you aren't rewarding bad behavior, hopefully, they'll give up.

Oh dear! What an annoyance. You can make him drive instead of you. Or you can give him a map or GPS and "pretend" that you need his help finding your destination. If you are going somewhere you frequently travel tell him to find a new route to keep you on your toes.

If you can't tune him out, and he is driving your crazy tell him, "How about I close my eyes and you just tell me everything to do? Ready? My eyes are closed!". If that doesn't work, then just insist that he do all of the driving. He will get tired of driving everywhere you both go.

Politely explain that his comments are doing you more bad than good, to no longer do it, you value his opinion and will take it into consideration.
