How old should a puppy be before you begin leash training?

My puppy is three months old and I am more than ready to start leash training. I am afraid he is too young and will not get it.

Actually, at this stage is perfect to start. Put a small collar and leash on him so he gets used to being on the collar and leash.

Three months should be plenty old enough for leash training. It may require a little more patience and calmness on your part, however. If it's old enough to be going on walks with you, it's old enough to need a leash. Talk to your VET for more information.

A puppy that is three months old is likely to be okay for leash training, as some professionals start earlier. If you want, you can always ask your vet.

It should be about 8 weeks old. The earlier you leash the better, but it is better to use a collar.
