Smaller dogs under 15lbs can benefit from 1-2 teaspoons of pumpkin, while bigger dogs over 15lbs with 2-3 teaspoons.Although pumpkin is beneficial for dogs to firm up loose stools, too much can cause the opposite effect.

Depending on the size of your dog, 1-3 teaspoons of pumpkin a day would be sufficient. If your dog is under 15lbs you should give 1-2 teaspoons, and over 15lbs, 2-3 teaspoons.

I would be really careful feeding a dog pumpkin there a few reasons for this. They can get parasites from it and they make some great fiber supplements for dogs that you can get you just giv them one or two a day they will chew them right up like atreat and your dogs fiber will be taken care of.

That depends on the breed but most dogs are benefited by a ration of upto one tenth of their dietary intake compased of pumpkin or another fibrous plant matter.

Only give your pup pumpking in pure form, cooked or pureed to avoid too much vitamin A. A large dog should have about 1 tsp per day.

um,pumpkin seeds kill parasites in dogs. my diabetic samoyed was doing so poorly on the expensive prescription diets (*made w/rice hulls) but when i added pumpkin, he sprang back in 2 days! 1/3 can 2x daily for 60 lb-er, fresh veggies, oatmeal or oatbran and fresh meat = happy dog!

First off make sure the dog is on a high quality food, ideally one with no corn. Then he only needs a spoonful of pumpkin with his food.

Pumpkin is good for firming up loose stools, but too much could cause an opposite effect. One tablespoon of pumpkin, and not pumpkin pie filling, per day is good. Any more and your dog may develop diarrhea.

Honestly instead of trying to get the dog to eat the pumkin you might try to call the vet and ask them about fiber supplements for your dog they would be able to tell you things you can give them that will work just as well as the pumpkin and it will be more palatable.
