A five year old can be given half a tablespoon of Miralax in 4 ounces of fluid twice a day or one tablespoon in 8 ounces of fluid once a day. If not effective, this can be slightly and gradually increased.

The bottom says to keep out of reach of children. Have you checked with your pediatrician? Prune juice might be a better option.

Miralax can be a miracle for young children with constipation. Proper dosage for a 5 year old would be half of a cap.

Drugs and children are a touchy subject - little research goes into it. You should start with a small dose, since you're probably using it off-label. Say, a quarter dose, slowly increase it if you see no effect. It might be a good idea to see a doctor too.

For the oral powder, you need to give 0.8grams per kilogram by mouth. Dissolve the powder in 4-8 oz of liquid first. Maximum dosage should be 17grams a day, no more. Use the least amount for the shortest time period to produce bowel movement.

Miralax, or Polyethylene glycol, is a very strong laxative. It is frequently used in the treatment of hyperkalemia, when a large amount of potassium needs to be evacuated from the body to mainatain the function of the heart. So, it should not be given to children without a physician order.

Most pediatricians agree to a dose of 1 capful (equivalent to 17 grams). Small adjustments to this dose may be made according to your child's response.

The most common dosage of Miralax for a child that age would be 1/2 a cap full of medicine. However, Miralax is an adult medicine. Before you give it to a child under the recommended age, talk to your pediatrician about whether it is right for your child and exactly how much he/she recommends using.

My son is 8 years old- 57 pounds & I was told to give him 17 g. for 7-10 days. I think that is too much for him. I'm doing half the dose for 7 days- wish there was another way to do this without MiraLax? Help ...  add a comment
