How much does it cost to have freon added to a four-ton air conditioning unit?

I think that's what I need to fix mine.

Many AC companies offer tune-ups. Which offer least 2 lbs of Freon, R-22if for free. If it requires more than the free amount advertised. It is usually around $60.00per lb of R-22. The average price should be no more the $70.00; I have seen them advertised for $19.99.

It would depend on how low the unit is. Usually most units that are low still have quite a bit of coolant left in them. You can expect to pay around $20 a pound for the coolant. Anything more than that and you may be getting ripped off.

Yes there is a 3/4 ton unit along with a 1/2 ton and even 4 ton on up.You shouldn't charge the unit with a EPA license.it can cost $10,000 fine.
