How much does it cost sending the US teams to the Olympics?

When it all boils down to it, it costs millions of dollars to send a team to the Olympics, but more so for American squads due to the sheer volume of athletes. To fund the programs, it costs a whole pile of money. Nobody knows exactly, but it`s a lot.

It all depends on the sports and the popularity. Some teams are responsible for getting themselves there while others have sponsorships.

The cost can differ depending on who and what team they are sending. Superstars such as Michael Phelps may cost then US team nothing as he flies on a private jet whereas other lesser athletes it may cost the US just a plane ticket to that country
