State lotteries are set up to provide funds from your purchases, not give good odds of winning. The number of tickets you must purchase for "good odds" depends, of course, on the definition of "good odds. " The odds of winning a lottery are one in one thousand for a pick 3 ticket, and multiply by ten for every additional digit.

There are no set number as to what would give you good odds because the lottery is totally random. Even if you purchase one million dollars worth of tickets it does not mean you will win, therefore there is no set number to purchase to have good odds.
