Powell's Book is not part of a chain (like Borders or Barnes & Noble). It is an independent bookseller and is the world's largest bookseller in that category, selling both new and used books. The Portland location has more than 1,000,000 books on the shelves and takes in 3000 used book each day. There is a Powell's in Chicago.
