Every person's reaction to a root canal is different. The pain experienced though is more from the problem tooth before the root canal than afterwards. Your dentist will provide you with pain medication that should ease the soreness you may experience from the dental work being performed on you. Even after the procedure, light medication will help ease any pain.

Your gums can be painful for a week after a root canal. Some people feel more gum pain than others. If pain persist or gets worse then visit your dentist.
