In certain states with high unemployment the claim can be extended using a federal program. some people are actually able to collect unemployment for up to 99 weeks. There are many requirements to qualify for benefits for this long, so checking with your local EDD office can give you the specific requirements to qualify.

The average state benefit length is for 26 weeks, which is payable within 52 weeks. Federal extensions have increased the time you can receive the benefits.
