How fast does the ball move in fast pitch softball?

I'm really curious about the fast pitch softball speed. Is it faster than baseball?

A typical fast pitch softball speed rates anywhere from 40 to 70 mph. The distance from the mound to homeplate is shorter than that of in baseball which is 60' 6". During softball games, the pitch speed is often translated to that of a baseball pitch speed as well. It depends on the kind of pitch

You won't find many players who can throw a softball at major league speed. Most fastballs are actually only in the high 60's or low 70's. The reason it so hard to hit, is that in softball home plate is only 43 feet from the pitching mound.

The typical pitch speed in fastball softball is about sixty five miles per hour. That is at the collegiate or professional levels. At a high school level or lower the speed is about 50mph and lower.
