Tag team wrestling works when you have two individuals on each team taking turns to wrestle an opponent team that is also comprised of two individuals. Typically one individual cannot leave the ring until they choose to 'tag' their teammate's hand and are able to do so. This necessitates a level of strategy to matches not found in single competition.

Tag team wrestling involves forming a team of 3 people each. When the whistle blows, there is a match between the first 2 wrestlers, and so forth, until it's over.
