The only way herpes can spread is with direct contact with someone who has it. You can pass it thru kissing if that person has a blister on their lips.

herpes can be spread by sex, but other than sex it can be also spread through saliva, direct contact, autoinocculation, from mother to child (by birth) etc.

It is typically spread through fluid transfer. Kissing, intercourse etc. I can be spread orally through a toothbrush, by sharing a razor or even fingernail clippers.

By direct body contact, sharing utensils, or any other way similar to that such as chewing a pen cap, then passing it to a friend who does the same. You can also get it anywhere on your body. There is only one herpes virus, but 3 types: mouth, genitals, other.

Sexual contact will be the only real way to spread herpes from person to person for type 2. For type 1, kissing can spread it.

Just coming in contact with another herpes sore can transmit the virus. However, just because there is not an open sore, if someone has herpes, even what we call cold-sores that usually for on the face, it can transfer without there being a visible sore.

By getting into contact with the fluids from the blisters when the herpes attack is infectious. Thus kissing the infected outlets could cause infection.
