It grows from seeds. Marijuana grows wild in many parts of the world. A nice starting point is to save the seeds from the best batch you have consumed. The seeds should be virile that is, they not be grey and shriveled up.

Germinate seeds between two wet sponges. After sprouting place them pots of dirt 1/2" deep. Keep florescent lights 2" away from soil 24/7. Move light upwards maintaining a 2" clearance. At 4 weeks change lights to 14 hours on/10 hours off. Small plants need fertilizer with a high potassium content. Later switch to a generic 19-10-20 vegetable fertilizer.

You can grow it in soil or in an inert medium, whereby it gets all of its nutrients from water. You will need to have an indoor lighting system which can be expensive. But first, you will have to get some good seeds.

It is very difficult to grow a marijuana plant indoors, and that is why there are so many systems sold to accomplish this task. The plants need a lot of sunlight, and have a tendency to smell very strongly while growing. Artificial lights and a good fan system are must haves.
