How does a dentist go about crowning a tooth?

I have to have a crown done soon.

The dentist will likely drill away any decayed portion of the tooth to be crowned, then clean it and cement the crown over the original tooth. After drying it, he or she will usually sand any areas of rugged cement leakage.

The dentists has to make an impression of your tooth with a clay, then make a cast from this to create the size and shape needed to cover the tooth

Well, the dentist will start off by numbing you up good, so you don't have to worry about being in a lot of pain, at least during the operation. Then they file the tooth down to a small peg and then apply adhesive and pop the crown over the peg

He first cleans the area that will need a crown put on. THen he may give you some Novocain. After that he places glue and then the crown on top.
