How do you use a pumpkin as a centerpiece?

A fall centerpiece--not Halloween.

Generally pumpkins work best when paired with other things. Place a pumpkin in the center of a plate or bowl and fill the rest with acorns, gourds or other harvest vegetables. You can also surround a pumpkin with smaller pumpkins and twigs (just make sure to check for insects first).

If you would like your pumpkin to last, spray paint it. I like gold, but any color works. Set it on the table with some autumn leaves.

To use a pumpkin as a centerpiece you are most definitely going to want either a red or brown table cloth because if you go with black or purple you may end up with the halloween spirit. Adding other vegtables such as squash and maybe a few pecans or acorns will definitely do the trick. If you are feeling a little more lively, you could always set up a mini-scarecrow in with the veggies or plop him right on top of the pumpkin
