How do you treat a scorpion sting?

My husband was just stung really bad from a scorpion. He stepped on it with all his weight, with bare feet. We washed it and are icing it now. Do we need medical treatment?

Elevate it to heart level if possible, then call poison control or the emergency room as soon as possible. If you can, try and take a picture of the scorpion or save the body if it's dead, but only if you can do so safely. First aid for scorpion stings is similar to first aid for insect or spider bites.

I would seek immediate care. Depending on the scorpion you may be playing with time here. Some may cause minor discomfort, others can be deadly. Seek ER care now to be sure. You should never just guess with a scorpion sting or snake bit unless you are a trained professional.

Most American scorpion stings are not serious, except the bark scorpion found in the south west. Wash the area in running water. Apply ice and elevate the foot. Anti histamine cream and pain killer can be taken. Seek emergency medical help if there are signs of hyperventilation, muscle spasms, losing consciousness or racing pulse because this might be anaphylactic shock.

Keep it clean, keep foot elevated, use ice bag for ten minutes on and ten minutes off. Seek emergency room treatment if arms and legs feel numb or tingle, vision is blurred, muscles twitch or eyes rove.

Some scorpians can be very toxic.others the toxin is not strong enough to mess with the human immune system. try to find out which kinda of scorpian it would have most likely been and go from there. Ice the area and treat will a bacterial medication in the mean time.

The best way is with powdered meat tenderizer. It will neutralize the sting and help to rid the body of the poision from the scorpion.

Using a dull knife, scrap along the skin as though shaving. This will remove the stinger without introducing more venom into the wound. Keep the wound cool for up to two hours with the ice. Acetaminophen can be used for minor pain. Difficulty breathing, muscle spasms, convulsions, clamminess, and faintness are all signs of a severe reaction requiring medical attention.

Well, a scorpion sting does hurt really bad. What you should do is apply tea tree oil followed by witch hazel. But if it hurts severely, then get medical treatment.

Only (25 of 1,000+)scorpion-species have potentially-fatal-stings. Usually North American stings do not require more than ice-pack first-aid, unless a

Wash the area of the scorpion sting with soap. Ice (wrapped in a washcloth or other suitable covering) may be applied to the sting location for 10 minutes.

Since the sting of a scorpion is an alkali, an acid is required to neutralize the effect of the sting. The area should be washed with water and then lime juice. Lime juice contains citric acid which is weak enough not to cause burns on the skin.
