First mount from the horse's left side. Most riding horses will move away if you try mounting on their right, though horses can be trained to allow one to mount from either side.Once mounted take firm hold of the reins.Use your heels to signal to move and reins for direction.

There are several different 'styles' for riding a horse, from English, to Western, to Side Saddle. Each of these, howevere, require balance and knowledge of horsemanship.
