Most basement smells are caused by dampness or excess humidity in the basement. Installing a dehumidifier to dry the area, then cleaning the surfaces thoroughly should remove most smell sources.

Asepsole works very fine for basements, especially if it's not summertime, but a cold, wet winter. It if is summer time, I would open basement door and let the fresh air in. The other solution is Oust! product for air freshening and other similar products. I even use a cheap perfume in emergencies.

Try to use an air humidifier. Just turn it on and let it absorb the water in the air, and it gets rid of the smell. Also, try air freshener.

Many people struggle with stinky and smelly basements. Most basements typically have a very distinct smell that is hard to get rid of. One way to rid your basement of a distinct smell is to properly ventilate it. Ventilation fans can be purchased at many hardware stores.
