How do you replace a gas furnace?

I need to replace my gas furnace.

Obviously, step one turn off natural gas supply before proceeding. Measure area for new unit, remove old and arrange for pick up and recycling. Connect & secure new unit to gasline.

Locate the breaker that services the furnace and the blower and switch it off Bleed the gas line Disconnect the venting flue and the plenum. Remove old furnace unit and position the new one it its place Reconnect the thermostat wire Hire a licensed plumber to attach the new gas fittings Plug in your new furnace and turn it on.

Turn the gas and electrical to the furnace off. Disconnect the gas and electrical to the old furnace. Disconnect the supply and return ductwork. Position the new furnace and attach the old supply and return ducts. Connect the gas and electrical. Turn the gas and electricity back on. Install a new filter and light the pilot light.

Turn electrical and gas off first. Then remove all connections allowing you to remove old furnace. Replacing new furnace is just the opposite. Just make sure that the tonnage is the same for both furnaces.
