There are several pulmonary function tests. Reports often show your result and a normal range, but the results need to be interpreted based on your age, sex, medical condition and other factors. Ask you health care provider to explain the numbers and interpret their meaning in your particular case.

Pulmonary function test (PFTs) is mostly advised to the people who have asthma. Spirometry is one of the most pulmonary function tests. For this test, the person being tested will be asked to breathe into a special mouthpiece which attached to a recording device named spirometer. The result will be printed out on a chart called spirogram.
