There are do it yourself kits for making beer. It usually requires a couple hours to prepare a batch of beer to ferment, a few weeks of sitting time, an hour to bottle it, and then a couple weeks to let it carbonate. Average: between five and ten weeks.

Soak malted grain in hot water for 60 minutes. Separate the grain from the sweet wort and add water to reach the desired starting gravity. Boil with hops, cool, and transfer to fermenter. Add yeast and ferment 1-2 weeks before transfering to bottling bucket. Add sugar and transfer to sanitized bottles before capping. Age as needed for the style.

When brewing your own beer, the time involved slightly depends on the temperature. The warmer it is, the faster it goes, and when it is too cold it won't happen at all. Brewing takes 3 to 14 days, the necessary lagering afterwards another 8 to 12 weeks.

Making your own beer is a complicated process. I'd recommend picking up a home brewing kit online. It can take a few weeks to have one ready to drink.
