A simple sugar icing can be made with butter and confectioners sugar. Two cups of icing requires approximately one-half cup of melted butter, 1-1/2 Cups confectioner sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and about 2 tablespoons milk. Blend the sugar with the melted butter until there are no lumps. Add vanilla and milk. Add additional milk or sugar for desired consistency.

I soften one stick of butter and add one tablespoon of vanilla, I then add powdered sugar a little at a time till I get a nice spreading consistancy. You may add a little milk to thin the icing.

It's pretty easy. You'll need 1 box powdered sugar, 1 stick butter, 1 egg, 1/8 tsp. salt. Beat the eggs butter and salt together until creamy. Slowly add the sugar until you get the consistency that you want.
