Pretty simple really. Brown the sausage first, then put in flour, usually about half a cup to start. Stir until all of the grease from the sausage is soaked up by the flour. Add milk, Whole milk works better than 2 percent or skim for this recipe. Stir constantly. Let thicken to desired consistency and serve.

Fry up a pound of bulk sausage. Remove the sausage. Add flour or corn starch to the grease in the pan and cook until the gravy reaches desired consistency. Add sausage back to the gravy. Add salt and pepper until it tastes good.

Brown a pound of breakfast sausage and drain. In a small bowl mix about 1/4 cup flour with 1/2 cup milk thouroughly to make a thick mixture. This will help keep the gravy from being lumpy. Add to the sausage in a skillet. Add another 1/2-1 cup of milk and cook until thick. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Begin by melting shortening or butter in a skillet. Stir in a couple of tablespoons of all purpose flour. Then you add your milk which should be 2 cups. As that warms add your fried sausage and continue cooking until thickened.
