Black forest cake can be a time consuming endevour. For a quick and fast, but still unique version, try this. Pour three jars a maraschino cherries in a bowl add enough everclear to cover and refridgerate over night. Prepare your favorite chocolate cake recipe in 2 halves. after baking let cool. Mix cherries with whipcream and assemble tiered cake style.

A black forest cake is very simple. It's a two-layer chocolate cake. On top of each cake layer is a layer of whipped cream and a layer of cherry pie filling. You can make it fancier by garnishing the top layer with chocolate curls. Some also put liquor in the cake for a different flavor.

Prepare chocolate cake mix. Make two cakes. Bake. Cool. Poke holes at 1 inch intervals. Pour juice from maraschino cherry jar over cake. Refrigerate 1 hour. Put 12 oz cherry pie filling on 1 cake. Put 2nd layer on top. Put whipped cream, 4 oz cherry pie filling on top.

This is 3 tier chocolate cake brushed with Kirch. Filled with cherries with cornstarch to thicken to spreadable consistency. Cake is covered with whipped cream and garnished with chocolate shavings.
