Bake two cakes and place one baked cake on top of the other, cut the top layer a smaller circle and have the sides go down at an angle.

You can buy, or rent a form pan. This is made twice ( for top and bottom ). Once baked, the bottom piece is trimmed to sit flat. Icing or filling hold the sections together. It can now be iced to mock the ball colours. Free hand, batter can be baked in an oven proof bowl.
